E-Mail Settings

Microsoft Outlook 97
These instructions are intended to help our customers who are running Microsoft Outlook 97.
- Open Microsoft Outlook 97
- From the drop-down menus, select Tools then choose Services
- If Internet Mail appears on the list of services, highlight it and select Properties and jump to Step 6 (skip steps 4 & 5)
- If Internet Mail does NOT appear, select Add
- After selecting "Add" select "Internet Mail" and click OK then go back to Step 3
- After selecting Properties, on the Services tab enter your account info as shown below
Be sure to type in your correct email address. If you have choosen something other than @blackhills.com, then type in that domain name instead.
- After entering the information as above, click on Advanced Options
- Enter the name of the outbound (SMTP) mail server as shown below
- Click OK
- Click on the Connection tab
- Make sure Connect using the modem is selected. Under Dial using the following connection make sure that your dial-up networking connection is selected. If it is not, click on the down arrow on the right-hand side of the box and select your connection.
Note #1: You may have chosen another name (i.e. "My Connection", "Sodak", "BlackHills", etc.) for your connection. Just select the name that is associated with your dialup.
Note #2: If you are using a local area network to access your email, then you will need to choose that option instead of a "dialup connection". Contact your Network Administration for your particular settings.
- Click Apply and OK to save your settings
You are now ready to begin sending and receiving email with Microsoft Exchange or Outlook 97. For program features and functions, consult your Outlook "Help" files or contact Microsoft Technical Support online at:
